Virginia Sevier

Funeral service for Virginia E. Sevier, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church. VIRGINIA E. SEVIER was born June 7, 1915 in Ohio to Charles Elmer and Dora (Gosney) Hambrick. She died August 17, 2013 in Chickasha at the age of 98. Virginia growing up lived in different states but during the depression, she worked with her parents at the Hambrick Grocery in Oklahoma City. There she met and married Jodie W. Sevier, and they moved to Chickasha over seventy years ago and eventually owned and operated Chickasha Funeral Home which is now Sevier Funeral Home. Virginia was a licensed funeral director. Virginia was active in many community and church activities involving her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Chickasha Altrusa Club, serving as president four different times. She was honorary Altrusa Emeritus and was Business Woman of the Year in 1980. In her retirement years she went back to crafts and oil painting. Virginia was an accomplished artist and won many awards at shows around the state. She was involved with a jewelry class at USAO for several years. She also did Meals on Wheels and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was an avid football fan. She was preceded in death by: Jodie W. Sevier; Great granddaughter, Brandi Hughes; Grandson, Todd Sevier; Daughter-in-law, Linda Sevier Survivors include: son, Larry Sevier Daughters: Betty Rogers, Patsy Holstein and Janice Say 10 grandchildren including April Kile and her husband, Jeff 24 great grandchildren including Brayden Kile, Austin Kile, and Jeremy Kile 4 great-great grandchildren Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
