Viola Marie Hammons

Viola Marie Hammons was born February 29, 1928 east of Chickasha, Oklahoma to E.F. "Sussie" and Julain Martha (Standridge) Capps.  She passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 88.

Viola and her family lived in Chickasha area and Arizona during her childhood.  She married James "Jay" Hammons on February 26, 1946 in Chickasha, OK.  They lived in the Tuttle and Chickasha area.  Jay passed away in 1991 and shortly after Viola moved to Chickasha where she has lived since.

She greatly enjoyed raising and feeding birds and caring for her house plants.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jay Hammons; daughter, Nancy Jean Hammons; son, Tim Hammons; and a brother, Noble Capps.

Viola is survived by her son, Jim Hammons and his wife, Sandy, of Chickasha, OK;

4 grandchildren: Shane Hammons and his wife, Jessica, of Chickasha, OK; Shawn Hammons of Austin, TX; Chad Hammons of Chickasha, OK; Shollie Pritchard of Chickasha, OK;

and 4 great grandchildren: Tim Hammons; Karlie Hammons, Bailee Hammons and Cruz Hammons all of Chickasha, OK;

Sisters:  Rena Robertson and her husband, Darold, of Newcastle, OK; Beulah of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Helen Barquene of Arizona; Joann Capps of Arizona; Betty Sue Amerson and her husband, Charles, of Arkansas;

Brother, Jimmy Capps and his wife, Judy, of Muskogee, OK;
