Bring your favorite stories, a picnic friendly dish, or just a happy heart: Stories will be read for all. If you cannot attend but want to share a story, please send them to her family. Recordings and pictures of the event will be posted to Vickey’s page. Vickey was born on August 11th, 1961 in Mooreland, OK. Raised on the family homestead, Vickey attended Sharon-Mutual Schools as a class of 1979 Trojan. Vickey enjoyed being on the basketball team, barrel racing competitions in the Jr. Elks Rodeo, and an unforgettable senior trip to Germany. As a child, Vickey enjoyed farm life with her precious horses, fun antics with her brothers and cousins, as well as iconic youth activities such as “dragging Main” in Woodward, and attending drive-in movies.
Vickey had three beautiful daughters and two angel baby sons. She loved science and medicine, so successfully became a Licensed Practical Nurse at High Plains Technical Center. She was also an advanced life support certified cardiac specialist, and multi-talented in her skill. This was her life calling, and she covered many facets of care for over 30 years until Covid. At home, Vickey loved to cook, crochet, cross stitch, and listen to a myriad of music: rock, country, and classics. She was a master gardener, winning several yard of the month awards in her life. Zinnias and Marigolds are some favorites you can plant for her. You could not discuss music without her sharing the love for her friendships with the members of Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mudd, and Uncle Cracker. She always had animals in her life, but found her true love as a “ferrent.” Bandit, her ferret was a pure joy in Vickey’s life. Her love of science did not stop with nursing; she enjoyed several science fiction and fantasy themes, such as: The Mandalorian (especially Grogu – baby Yoda), Star Trek (Ferengis), Harry Potter, Tombstone, Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman, Lord of the Rings, and of course Star Wars. In youth she read thrillers by Anne Rice and Dean Kootz, but in recent years spent most of her time in the Word of God, coloring in her Bible and meditating on growth.
All fun aside, Vickey spent her last few years after a miraculous second chance in the Word of God, growing lasting connections with her children and loved ones, crocheting as many gifts possible so others could feel loved, and keeping in touch with old friends. She recently fell in love with a silly little pup named Donald, who kept her final days full of laughter. Vickey was Baptized, washed anew in repentance and love, and was confident in a future where she will see the Lord someday. The pain is over; may we rejoice.
Vickey is preceded in death by Arthur Jerry (AJ) Ruppel (father), Naomi Fay Ruppel (mother), Steven and Tanner (her angel babies), Gary Eugene Lindsey (Heather’s father), Randy Ray McDonald (Melissa’s father), Zachary Ruppel (nephew), Laken Ruppel (niece), and Dylan Jackson (grandson).
