Vernon Theodore Kettler was born October 4th, 1936 in Tuttle Oklahoma to Charlie and Myrtle Kettler. He went peacefully with the Lord surrounded by his family on August 9th, 2016 at the age of 79. He was a member of the 1955 graduating class from Tuttle High School. He married Joy Locke on December 9, 1959 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Tuttle. He served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. Vernon was a Machinist Radar Technician for FAA where he traveled to 49 of the 50 states, upon retirement he traveled to the 50th state, Alaska, with his wife Joy, Vernon was also one of the founders of the Silver City Antique Tractor Club where his family happily participated.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Kettler, son Burl Kettler, brothers Charles and Clinton Kettler, Sisters Peggy Ballard and Maudie Trammell. He is survived by his wife Joy Kettler, of the home, son Jesse Kettler and wife Jackie of Tuttle, daughters Rhena Reynolds and husband Michael of Newcastle and Kathy Taylor and husband Scotty of Tuttle. Grandchildren Athena Dunbar and husband Jim of Minco, Kimberly Kettler of Tuttle, Tyler Collins and wife Katie of Moore, Bryce Collins of Newcastle, Gage Streber and wife Ashley of Tuttle, Taylor Streber of Tuttle, and Jamie Taylor of Tuttle, two great granddaughters Kaitlyn Kettler and Kenslei Streber both of Tuttle and a host of cherished nieces and nephews. Vernon was not only a father of four children but also treated close friends as his own children, April Bolner and Lara Douglas.
