Vernon Herman Hoover

November 26, 1923 — March 20, 2017

Vernon Herman Hoover of Chickasha, Oklahoma was born November 16, 1923 in Hammond, Indiana to Fred and Alma (Hass) Hoover.  He passed away on Monday, March 20, 2016 at his home in Chickasha, OK at the age of 93.

Mr. Hoover worked on his grandfather's dairy farm as a young boy during his school vacations.  He had worked in Metz Furniture Factory and later worked at General American as a welder on landing crafts for the war.  He served in the United States Army during WWII and after his army service he worked for L.T.V. Steel for 38 years.  After retiring he did home repair and home building plus volunteer work.

He married Gloria Jones on January 26, 1950 in Hammond, Indiana.  They moved to Chickasha in 1986 and he volunteered at Festival of Light and doing church work.  He was a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V.

Mr. Hoover is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria Hoover on January 11, 2014; brother, Wilbur and sister, Ruth Sankowski.

He is survived by his son, Richard Hoover of Chickasha, OK;

Brothers: Raymond and Roy Hoover and

Sisters: Claryce Blair and Helen Trach

And several nieces and nephews.

His cremains will be inurned at Ft. Sill National Cemetery at a later date.
