Vernon Lee Elliott , 77, of Rush Springs, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017. He was born August 10, 1940, to the parents of Emerson Herbert and Minnie Mabel (Strangfeld) Elliott in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Vernon loved to ride four-wheelers and camping as long as there was electricity and water. He didn't do primitive camping. Utah was one of his favorite places to ride. He and his family made numerous trips to Mena, Arkansas to camp and ride four-wheelers. Vernon worked for Chickasha Mobile Homes for 18 plus years as a truck driver. He was a driller in the oilfield for over 15 years and he worked in the construction business for himself for over 10 years.
In his younger years he rode bareback horses and bulls. He has always had horses and loved to baby them. He loved to cut up and pull pranks on people. Vernon was one of the last of a dying breed of cowboys.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Vernon Lee Elliott, Jr. and Donnie Ray Elliott; 2 grandchildren, Waylon Null and Jordie Pervis.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Gayle Elliott, of Rush Springs, OK;
5 daughters: Leona and Teddy Null of Alex, OK;
Rhonda and James Durham of Dibble, OK;
Vicki Elliott and Gary Knapp of Rush Springs, OK;
Wendy and Chris Tecumseh of Pensacola, FL;
Tanya and Michael East of Chickasha, OK;
1 son, Jeremy and Jonika Pervis of Mannsville, OK;
He has numerous grandchildren: Leslie Meeks, Brandy Cooper, Chaz and Tina Chaffin, Dallas Durham, Dakota Elliott, Winter Elliott, Autom Elliott, Tanya Pervis, Taylor Craig, Kyle Tecumseh, Jordan Tecumseh, Logan Scheer, Donnie Harrelson, Steven Harrelson, Myka East;
19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
