Verna Bea Brennan, 92, passed away Thursday, Feb 23, 2023, at her home in Chickasha surrounded by family and friends
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, Feb 28, 2023, at the Fairlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home
Verna Bea was born, on June 28, 1930, in Agawam, OK. to Richard Marvin and MaryAnnie (Stephens)Wynn. She lived in the Chickasha area most of her life and attended school in both Agawam and Ninnekah. Verna Bea played basketball in high school and was really excited when the OKC Thunder franchise was formed in Okla. She married J.B. Shaw, on Oct 5th 1948. To the union were born twin girls, Bergilda and Clothilda.
She loved to dance and play piano, which she learned to play by ear. Notes just slowed her down. She loved gardening. Her yard was always immaculately groomed. Besides gardening, she loved to fish. Verna Bea and her husband Jack were known for their fish fries at their local church, Parkview Christian Church. Verna Bea and Jack were also known for their Christmas Light Display on Miller Dr. in Chickasha. She loved Christmas and went to great lengths to make memories of Christmas with her family. She worked several jobs in Chickasha but finally retired from Sentry Manufacturing to travel (and fish) with her husband, Jack
She was known by her children and grandchildren as Mom and known by her nieces and nephews, as Aunt Bea.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Brennan, her parents, Richard and Mary Wynn, sisters Lazella Heilman, and her twin sister Erma Lea Haston, her granddaughter, Carrie Jane Bishop and her sons-in-law, Paul Scarbarough and Jimmy Rohling.
She is survived by her daughters, Bergilda Scarbarough and Clothilda Rohling; grandchildren Randall (Debbie) Brien, and Curtis Rohling. Melisa Scarbarough-Duncan (Robert) and LaVerna(Robert) Gilbert, several great and great-great-grandchildren, and several wonderful and caring nieces and nephews.
