Thomas Calvin Erwin
Graveside service for Calvin Erwin will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Thomas Calvin Erwin was born on May 28, 1927 in Blanchard, OK to Ona and Grace Erwin. He passed from this life on December 24, 2024 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 97.
Calvin attended Meridian School where he graduated at the age of 17. He joined the Army when he was 18 years old. Calvin served during World War II where he was Military Police. After the war he went to Oklahoma University and received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Calvin then served in the Korean War. Calvin married Gladys Young in 1952 and they had two children, Tom and Rodney.
He worked as an Electrical Engineer at OG&E his entire career. He retired in 1986. After retirement, he worked around the farm, and he had an amazing and beautiful yard and garden. He was an avid follower of High School Basketball, especially Blanchard and Am-Po. He was involved in Rod and Tom's lives, even after school, helping them with home projects and going to see them even when Tom lived out of the country. His children were very important in his life. Calvin met his second wife, Beth, in 2009. Calvin and Beth had 15 years of wonderful life together. They traveled and just enjoyed being together in their golden years. He was a much loved man. He made the most important decision of his life and gave his life to Christ on May 1, 2024 at the age of 97.
He is preceded in death by his son, Rodney Erwin; his parents, Ona and Grace Erwin; wife, Gladys (Young) Erwin; brothers, Odell and Bill; sister, Marie.
Loved ones left to remember him include his wife, Beth Kessler Erwin; son, Tom Erwin; many grandchildren & great grandchildren; step children, Bruce Kessler, Ronnie Kessler, Rhonda McComas; many step grandchildren & step great grandchildren; sister, Mary Lee and husband Conrad Hornbuckle; brother, James Erwin and wife Carole; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a Veterans Organization.
