Services will be held 1:00 p.m., September 2, 2022 at Sevier Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairlawn cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Thelma LoRene Polk was born on June 3, 1930, in Pocasset OK to Clarence and Nola Stover. She went to be with the Lord, on August 28, 2022, in Norman OK.
Thelma grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1947. She spent most of her life in Grady County, where she met her husband Harold Polk over a game of monopoly. They had their son Dennis Polk on August 3, 1960. Thelma's life motto was "The will of God will not take you where the grace of God cannot keep you". She loved to crochet and was known to be quite crafty. Thelma enjoyed her work at the Department of Agriculture. She graduated from OCW in 1951 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Education. Thelma was known to be very outgoing, it is said that she never met a stranger. Thelma had the ability to make friends with everyone she met.
Thelma was a long-time member of The Order of The Eastern Star and an active member of the Chickasha and Lexington chapters. She served as Grand Electa in the Grand chapter. She was also a life-long member of The First Baptist Church in Chickasha.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harold Polk; her parents Clarence Stover and Nola Baker; her brother Gene Stover.
She is survived by her son Dennis Polk and wife Karen of Moore; her step-brother Wayne Baker of Chickasha; her sister-in-law Jean Stover of OKC; her cousins Joan Brummell of Chickasha, Jeri Hinkle of MWC, Jackie McNeil-Leon of California; her nephew John Stover of Norman; her niece Janie Kelly of OKC.
