Susan Lynn (Edge) Bliss

Susan Lynn (Edge) Bliss, 68, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away February 11, 2021.

Susan was born on October 10, 1952 at the North Island U.S. Naval Air Station, Coronado, CA. to Willard J Edge, Sr. and Wynona M Bechhold.

Susan was a traveler beginning at a very young age.  Her father had been discharged from the Navy prior to her birth, so as soon as she and her mother were released from the hospital, they all loaded up into the car along with her two older siblings and moved back home to Miami, Oklahoma.

When her dad started with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in 1960, the family moved to Haskell, Oklahoma just in time for Susan and her older siblings to start school the very next day.  The family was transferred to Chickasha in the spring of 1962 when she was 9 years old.  After Susan graduated from Chickasha High School in 1970, she would periodically travel to various parts of the country with her friend(s).  After living in locations around the Oklahoma City Metro Area and in Oswego, Kansas, she returned to Chickasha in 2006.

Susan was a very friendly, helpful, caring, hard-working, dedicated, responsible employee throughout her working years.  Whether she was a waitress, a receptionist, a bookkeeper, a sales clerk, or any other kind of worker, she always received high praises from her employers and from her customers.

Susan did not travel much after she retired unless it was absolutely necessary or to go to see one of her long-time friends.  She loved watching the old westerns on TV and she loved putting together jigsaw puzzles.  She would occasionally shop at garage sales just to buy used puzzles to put together.  It didn't matter if a piece was missing because it made it more challenging.

Susan always had a very special place in her heart for her pets, both cats and dogs, over the years.  The Lord knew this, so her beloved dog Mikey was able to be with her as she peacefully left this earth.

Susan was preceded in death by her father Willard Junior Edge Sr. in 2009 and step-mom Betty Jean Edge in 2003 and by her mother Wynona Maxine Sorrells (Bechhold) in 2010 and step-dad William "Bill" Henry Sorrells in 2010.

She is survived by her siblings: Peggy Ann Ratcliff of Oklahoma City. OK.; Willard "Willie" Junior Edge Jr. of Norman, OK.; David Earl Edge and wife Patricia "Patty" Wood of Hugo, OK.; by her nephews: Matthew Ratcliff of Norman, OK.; Justin Edge and wife Sheena (Brooklyn and Bailee) of Oklahoma City, OK.; Jeffrey Edge and wife Mandy (Justice) of Edmond, OK.; by her niece: Terra Wood and husband Jeff (Logan, London, Talon, and Marlee) of Norman, OK.; and by many cousins.

The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Julie Heldman and the rest of the staff at the Carnegie Tri-County Municipal Hospital for their compassion and care during the final weeks of Susan's life.  We would also like to thank Pat Scott for being a good neighbor to check in on her and help her when needed.  We know that the Lord was taking care of Susan's concerns after her passing, because He provided a loving home for Mikey with Julie and her husband in Carnegie.  Thank you all.

There will be a casual gathering of family and friends for the burial to honor Susan's life on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM on the west end of the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a pet rescue of your choice.
