She cared for her mother until her death in 1999, cared for her husband after his diagnosis of lung cancer in 1999 until his death in 2000 and cared for daughter Donna when she was diagnosed with acute myelogenus leukemia in 2006. She was especially fond of her grandbabies and they gave her a lifetime of love and memories!!!
In the past few years, her health had taken a downturn. Having been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), she fought hard to quit smoking and had finally kicked that habit! She had been on oxygen for many years, but she stayed active attending family functions, sports activities and community events as often as she could. She had her first stroke that affected her left eye in 2014, had a second stroke in January, 2017 that affected her left side. Following hernia repair surgery, while she was at Jim Thorpe Rehabilitation Center/Southwest Integris earlier this year, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer for which she was taking chemotherapy at the Stephenson Cancer Center.
