Sharon Gayle Parks was born November 14, 1946, to Elmer Lloyd Parks and Naeoma Parks nee Mashaney in Chickasha in the old hospital on Choctaw Avenue. Her mother was in Chickasha staying with family until her father secured housing at Edwards Air Force Base in California. Sharon grew up in an Air Force family and lived in multiple locations, including England and Holland, before the family finally settled in northern Utah, where her father retired.
Sharon accepted Christ as a teenager at summer camp. After graduating high school, she enrolled in Grand Canyon College in Phoenix, Arizona, where she met David C. Hall, Jr. in her freshmen year. David and Sharon dated and became engaged in 1965 and were married August 25, 1966.
Through the years, she supported the ministry of her churches and her pastor husband by serving the Lord in many different capacities. For most of her married life, Sharon taught Sunday School, working with all ages from children to senior adults. She had a beautiful voice (although she never thought so) and learned to sing solos and with groups. In addition, Sharon always worked in the secular world, using that as an opportunity to witness and invite people to her church. After a number of years in retirement and with advancing health problems, Sharon eased back on her active commitment at the church, participating when possible.
Sharon and David have two children who have grown in the Lord and are both very active in His service, which is a tribute to their mother's influence.
After a time of physical decline, she went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2024, shortly before midnight. She was predeceased by her mother and father and one great-grandson. Sharon is survived by her husband, David; sister, Jennifer Cordova; daughter, Teresa Hall; son, David L. Hall; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by family and friends that she has known and taught through the years. Because of her interests and circumstances of her late life, the family is suggesting donations in her name, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention or to an Alzheimer's/dementia support group.
A Memorial Service for Sharon will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 11:00 am at SonRise Baptist Church on Highway 81.
