Sandra Lee Marshall's life was full of love for family, friends and pets: of service to church, clubs, and organizations; of education, both her own and of others, of activities like dancing, road racing, listening to music, and puzzles. She loved to talk and sometimes listen. She loved hamburgers and steak, chocolate in all its forms, and most anything served with a Diet Coke. Her cooking was not legendary, but several of her attempts became the stuff of family lore. She loved to laugh and often caused others to laugh at her goofy ways. She took all the teasing in stride more times than not. Her life of 80 years passed much too quickly.
She is survived by daughters Debra Keener (and her husband Joe) and Dedra Welch; granddaughters Ethel and Faye Morris; brother-in-law Maurice Wilkins and family: brother John Gentry and family. She was preceded in death by her sister Cookie Wilkins.
Born in October 1940 to Clemon and Marian Marshall (ne'e Short), Sandra was raised by her mother and step-father Buford Gentry in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Sandra lived her life - grade school through college, marriages and kids, work through retirement - in Chickasha, moving to Texas 7 years ago to be near her daughters after she received a heartbreaking Alzheimer's diagnosis.
Her education consisted of being a 1958 graduate of Chickasha High School and then went on to attend USAO where she received her Bachelor of Science in Business Education in 1975. In 1977, she received her Master of Business Education from the University of Oklahoma.
She had worked for Walt Flood Buick as a secretary and also OG&E and Public Service as a secretary. After receiving her Bachelors and Masters Degrees she was employed at AmPo High School (1976-1977), Chickasha High School (1978-1984) and Canadian Valley Vo-Tech (1984-2001) from where she retired in May of 2001.
She had been a lifelong member of the First Christian Church where she had also served as a past elder and was Volunteer of the Year in 2003. She had also been a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and a past USAO Alumni President.
According to her wishes, no services will be held. She celebrated her life as she lived it with family and friends. Her ashes will rest in Chickasha at Rose Hill Cemetery.
