Roger Ziegenfuss was born on July 2, 1940 in Chickasha Oklahoma to James and Oneta Ziegenfuss. He passed away from this earthly life on September 29, 2022 in Chickasha Oklahoma.
Roger lived his entire life in Chickasha and Marlow. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1958. Shortly after high school he spent some time working in the oil field. He then joined the Army reserves where he stayed until he was honorably discharged in 1965. After leaving the military Roger began working at Haliburton. He was a master machinist and worked for AT&T and Lucent Technology which he retired from. He married the love of his life Etta Mae on March 10, 1979.
Roger was a true man of God. He loved the lord with every fiber of his being. He was instrumental during the construction of Bible Baptist Church where he attended for many years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and OU fan. After retirement he mowed Riverbend Golf Course. He pulled the chain at Chickasha High School football games and was part of the oldest chain gang in Oklahoma. Everybody loved Roger, he was a joyful soul. His last hoorah was at Brookdale where he had one last burst of energy and set off both fire alarms as his last ornery moment.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Etta Mae Ziegenfuss; his parents James and Oneta (Bryant) Ziegenfuss; his brothers Roy Ziegenfuss and Ronald Ziegenfuss.
He is survived by his daughters Carla Akin of Duncan OK, Lisa Winstone and husband Wes of Ninnekah OK; his son Lloyd Martin of Chickasha OK; his grandchildren Jessica Kordisch and husband Dustin, Janelle Martinez and husband Enrique, Shane Martin and wife June, Tyler Winstone and wife Laura, Abby Ketchum and husband Kelby; 5 great-grandchildren Maddox, Amos, Eden, Esther and Heidi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to the Brookdale staff and to the Choice Hospice Staff for taking such good care of Roger.
