Funeral Service for Robert Francis Novotny Sr. will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mustang, OK. Rosary for Mr. Novotny will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK.
Robert Francis Novotny Sr. was born on August 21, 1937 in Anadarko, OK to Stanley and Loretta (Voegeli) Novotny. He passed away on May 21, 2024 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 86.
Robert grew up in the Verden and Anadarko area, near Lake Chickasha, on the family farm. He was the oldest of 11 children. Robert attended Verden public schools and graduated from Verden High School in 1955. He attended OSU for one year before joining the Air Force. He was in the Air Force from 1956-1959. While Robert was stationed in New York, he met and married his beautiful wife, Dorothy Mandigo, and they started their family. After four years in the Air Force, Robert and his family moved back to Anadarko, OK where they lived for several years before moving to Chickasha, OK. Robert worked at the Chickasha Airport in manufacturing of Airplane parts until 1970. He then began working in Airplane sales, and worked for Dusters and Sprayer for over 50 years. After he retired, Robert and Dorothy moved to Tuttle, OK where they had a more leisurely life. Robert enjoyed gardening, and he loved to joke and play with all the grandchildren. He never met a stranger. He was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and an avid member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Loretta (Voegeli) Novotny; siblings, Cletus Novotny, Kenneth Novotny, Bernadette Leibold, Mildred Howell, Julia Jackson, Delores Anderson; grandson, Jacob Novotny Wilkinson; son-in-law, Keith Andrews.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Mandigo) Novotny; his children, Beth (Novotny) Williams and husband Carl, Cheryl Novotny, Robert Novotny, Jr. and Becky Johnson, Theresa (Novotny) Norton, Monica (Novotny) Andrews, Michele Novotny, Pamela (Novotny) Smith and husband Matt, and Angel Novotny; 26 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; siblings, Elaine Mahl (Herbert), Antoinette Dutton, Gladys Buresh (Ralph), and Stephen Novotny (Brenda); in-laws: Kris Novotny, Jimmie Jackson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and family.
