Robert Eugene Dye, of Chickasha, OK, was born March 6, 1940 to Bailey R. and Lillie Mae (Gibson) Dye in Southeast Newcastle OK. He passed away at his home in Chickasha on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the age of 78.
Mr. Dye graduated from Newcastle High School in 1957. He was a graduate of Central State College in 1963 and graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1966.
He married Elizabeth Ann Ebey on September 2, 1960 at Carter Park Baptist Church in Del City, OK.
Robert was a member of the Air National Guard and the Pocasset Lions Club.
He pastored at Stewart Street Baptist Church Carmi, Illinois, First Baptist Church in East Lansing, Michigan, Michigan Ave Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma twice, and Fort Supply Baptist Church, retiring in 2009. He was a Chaplain and Deputy for the Grady County Sherriff's Dept. and a Chaplain for Williams Key Correctional Facility in Ft. Supply, OK and a Chaplain at Grady Memorial Hospital in Chickasha, OK.
He enjoyed counted cross stitch, playing guitar and singing, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, photography and playing the dulcimer and he loved reading.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son John R. Dye, and a brother Joe Dye.
Robert is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home;
Daughter, Amy E. Briley of Brownwood, TX;
2 granddaughters: Lora B. Briley of Brownwood, TX
and Natalie L. Dye of Broken Arrow, OK;
Brother, Emery L. Dye and wife Darlene, of Tuttle, OK;
Sister, Ann M. Brewster and husband Gene of Westville, OK;
Sister-in-law, Mary Dye of Moore, OK;
Brothers-in-law: Bob Ebey of OKC, OK;
Bill Ebey and wife Sue of Tecumseh, OK;
and many other family members and friends.
