Graveside service for Robert “Bob” Ellison Owensby will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Robert "Bob" Ellison Owensby, a resident of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 84.

Bob was born on July 2, 1942, and grew up in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He graduated from Chickasha High School and went on to attend the University of Central Oklahoma. A man of strong work ethic, Bob built a successful career at Southwestern Bell Telephone. He accepted an early retirement in 1992 at the age of 49, but he wasn’t done working just yet. He continued serving the company as a contractor and later took on the role of Director of the Sanitation Department for the City of Midwest City.

On November 28, 1986, Bob married the love of his life, Della Kathleen Allen.

Throughout his life, Bob chased adventure. In his earlier years, he was deeply passionate about drag boat racing. He even built his own race boat, joined the Southern Drag Boat Racing Association, and became a key organizer for boat races in Oklahoma City.

Later, a snow skiing trip with family and friends sparked a lifelong love for the mountains. Determined to make his mountain dreams a reality, Bob bought property in Colorado. In 2001, he fully retired, and he and his wife, Della, moved to Colorado to live out his dream in a log home they built together in the mountains.

In 2011, Bob and Della returned to Midwest City to be closer to their family and grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

Bob loved the spirit of the Western cowboy. He embodied that passion every day, always dressed in true cowboy attire and never seen without his signature cowboy hat. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Owensby and Maulcie (Buchanan) Ishler.

Bob is survived by his wife, Della Kathleen Allen Owensby; his children: Kelly Owensby, Scott Owensby and Jessica McKune, Allen Roberts and wife Gabrielle Roberts, Nicole Roberts and husband Russ Roberts; Grandchildren: Kacey Owensby, Brock Owensby & Brooklyn Walker, Holly, Alexander, Catherine, Emily, Ben, Andrea, Megan, and Isaac; Great-grandchildren: Blair Owensby, Aiden Walker, Hayley, Julia, Colben, Oliver, Liam, Henry, Bentley, George, Christopher, Felicity, Arthur, Theo, Finn, and Canyon.
