Richard Wayne Souders Sr.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Pocasset, OK.  Interment will be in the Friendship Cemetery, Pocasset, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, OK.

Richard Wayne Souders was born April 9, 1941 in Pocasset, OK and went to be with the Lord on June 13, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 79.

Richard was born to Roy A. Souders and Fannie F. (Shipp) Souders.

Richard was a graduate of Pocasset High School in 1959.  Following high school, he attended and graduated college at University of Central Oklahoma.

Richard married Sharon E. Townsend on March 23, 1963.  They were married 45 years and had 3 children.  During this time Richard was a Senior Vice President of Operations at Oklahoma National Bank in Chickasha, OK.

Richard was also a dedicated dairy farmer who loved spending his days out on the farm.  Once he retired from the banking and dairy farming, he started his own quilting business.

In his early years Richard became a follower of Jesus Christ and raised his family in a Godly home.  He was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Pocasset where he was an active member and served on several committees.

Following the death of his wife Sharon in 2008, he married Nancy Edwards on January 9, 2010.  This union Richard and Nancy enjoyed fabric shopping, quilting, making quilts for the grandkids, spending time with family, traveling and poultry farming.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Roy A. and Fannie F. Souders; two brothers, Roy Souders, Jr., and Robert Souders; and one sister, Oleta Salek; his first wife Sharon and one granddaughter Jordan E. Souders.

Richard is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; two sons: Richard Souders, Jr. and wife, Melissa; and Jeff Souders and wife, Lana; one daughter, Michele Haynes and husband Chris; all of Pocasset, OK.

Four stepsons: Jim Edwards and wife Brit, of Terrell, TX; Mike Edwards of Fort Worth, TX; Jeff Edwards of Kaufield, TX; and Bill Edwards of Durham, NC.   He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons.
