Randy Gene Wigley

December 11, 1954 — May 11, 2017

Randy Gene Wigley passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 62.  He was born to Richard Duane and Shirlene (Wood) Wigley in Chickasha, Oklahoma on December 11, 1954.

Randy was a kind and and honest man.  He told his children, Allison and Jason, many times that if he could lay his head on his pillow at night, knowing he had worked hard, been honest and done something good for someone that day, he could sleep soundly.

Randy was the consummate father to Allison and Jason.  When Allison was a toddler, you never saw Randy in downtown Chickasha on a Saturday morning, running errands, without Allison.  After Jason was born, the trio was a fixture in the community; whether it was Little League (Randy was a coach to both kids and later president of the league), Scouting (boy scouts and girl scouts) and soccer.  Thank goodness Jason came along with an interest in baseball, as Randy grew slightly frustrated as Allison focused more on the flowering weeds on the field than playing the game, or would rather sit on the bench and cheer than actually play!  Suffice it to say, Jason had a more competitive personality! Being an Eagle Scout, Randy guided Jason and countless other boys to Eagle Scout ranking.  Most summers were spent at the Boy Scout camp once the family moved to Florida—Camp Tanah Keeta.

While still in Oklahoma, Randy took over most day-to-day parental duties as mom worked around the state in the oil and gas business, spending many nights away from home.  There was talk one year of awarding Randy honorary "Mother of the Year" at the family church, Parkview Christian Church.  That was the year Cher volunteered for cookie distribution for Allison's Girl Scout troop.  With over 2500 boxes of cookies in the garage, Cher had to leave for the week.  Randy never complained, and all cookies were distributed successfully.

As the children grew older and life circumstances changed (as often does within a family), Randy was a strong and moral compass.  He devoted many hours to his adult children, assisting them wherever needed.  He helped Allison renovate a home in New Smyrna Beach and met many of Allison and Jason's friends, creating new friendships with young people that exist to this day.  Randy's expertise in carpentry (learned from his own father and grandfather) was passed on to Jason and Allison.  They have that undeniable Wigley DNA!

Randy wasn't perfect.  We all could share stories of his stubbornness and downright insistence that in whatever he did or said, his was the "right way".  But there is no denying; Randy Wigley was a good and honest man. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his father, Duane Wigley on June 6, 2008; brothers: Jeffrey Logan Wigley on November 22, 1977, Martine Duane Wigley on November 9, 1992 and Steven Craig Wigley on May 13, 2013; great nephew, Logan Wigley; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Wigley.

Randy is survived by his children Allison Wigley and Jason Wigley;

His mother, Shirlene Cozzitorto and her husband, Pete;

And several nieces and nephews.
