Phyllis Marie Slee Russell was born September 1st, 1933, in Chickasha OK, to Roy and Delia Slee. Phyllis passed at the wonderful age of 90, surrounded by family and close friends in Chickasha on March 10, 2024.
Services for Phyllis Russell will be held Saturday, March 16th at 1 pm at the Verden Baptist Church in Verden OK. The committal service will be at Verden Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
A Family and Friends viewing will be on Thursday, March 14th from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha, OK.
Phyllis was raised in Chickasha throughout her childhood. After graduating from Chickasha High School, she attended OCW. She met the love of her life, Joe Gene Russell.
They fell in love and were married on September 27, 1952. Through their adventure of love, they managed Russell's Deep Rock gas station, Joe's Place, and the Verden Tiger's Den.
During these years of marriage, they had three wonderful daughters Jeanne, Patti, and Cari Jo.
Phyllis enjoyed camping and water skiing and she loved to fish. She was an avid reader of Western romance novels and she could never pass up a good mystery. Phyllis had a love for card games, puzzles, and sudoku. She loved to crochet afghans for family and her friends.
Phyllis loved watching OU, the OKC Thunder, and her Dallas Cowboys. But her biggest love was spending time with her family.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her loving husband Joe Gene Russell, her parents Roy & Delia Slee, Brother Melvan "Tom" Slee, Son-in-law Robert Rempe, and Son-in-law John "Butch" Downes. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Jeanne Rempe of Anadarko, OK. Patti Harry and husband Jason of Oklahoma City. Cari Taylor and her husband Elton of Chickasha. Grandchildren: Michael Rempe and wife Lori of Shiner TX. Alicia Moss and husband Les of Cyril, OK. Jonathan Rempe and wife Monica of Chickasha, Ok. Candi Tallent and husband Ryan of Pocasset, Ok. Cayla Partain and her husband Caleb of Tuttle, OK. Also her 9 great-grandchildren, many nieces, and nephews as well as several wonderful friends.
