Phillip Wayne Gordon was born December 24, 1952 in Duncan, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charles and Imogene Pollock Gordon. He died December 4, 2021 in his home in Chickasha.

Phil attended Duncan Public Schools and graduated from Duncan High School in 1971. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. His freshman year at OSU, Phil met Rebecca (Becky) Ann Furgason at the Baptist Student Union. Phil and Becky were married on May 18, 1974 in Stillwater. They moved to Norman where Phil attended and graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law in 1978.

Upon Law School graduation, Phil and Becky moved to Ardmore where he would work with the firm Wallace Bickford Pasley & Farabough. The Gordons moved to Chickasha in 1981 so Phil could join John Hudson in the law firm Hudson & Gordon. Phil later partnered with Robert J. Hays to form Hays and Gordon, Attorneys at Law, which eventually became Hays, Gordon & Kirkland. Throughout his practice in Chickasha, Phil relied on Kay Hurst Greeley, his secretary and office manager for 35 years.

Phil was an active member of the Chickasha community. He was president of the Kiwanis Club, served on the Salvation Army board of directors, and was a member of the Rotary Club and Chickasha Chamber of Commerce. He helped found Leadership Chickasha and was the Opening Night Coordinator of the first Festival of Light in 1993. He was a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and served as Chairman of the Grady County Election Board. More importantly than his civic duties, he was involved in his kids' activities. He attended many of his daughter's dance recitals and competitions through the years and was a coach of his son's 1994 State Runner-Up Chickasha Rockies baseball team.

Phil was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickasha. He served as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a Sunday School department leader, and was a member of the church choir. Phil held leading roles in many church Christmas productions and enjoyed fun and fellowship with his church family.

Phil was loyal and true to his alma mater, Oklahoma State University. He served on the OSU Posse Board and was a Life Member of the Alumni Association. The Gordons supported OSU Football and Basketball as season ticket holders for many years. Phil was known to sit right underneath the Jumbo Tron at Boone Pickens Stadium and did his part to make Gallagher-Iba the "Rowdiest Arena in the Nation."

In addition to many trips to Stillwater, Phil enjoyed traveling with his family and friends to OSU football and basketball games across the country as well as attending Oklahoma City Thunder games and musicals at the Civic Center Music Hall. It was well-known among Phil's friends that he knew the best places to eat in just about any city and was a Bar-B-Q connoisseur. A lover of American history, Phil always took time to learn about the places and significant sites where he traveled. In retirement, Phil and Becky loved to drive across America on road trips with their friends Mike and Susan Newberry. Phil enjoyed music of all kinds, ranging from country and western swing to rock, soul and gospel. Phil's keen memory for lyrics and love of learning made him a fierce competitor in "Name that Tune" and "Trivial Pursuit" (he may have been unbeaten). Above all, Phil loved his family and was a devoted husband, brother, father and grandfather.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Imogene Gordon and father-in-law Junior H. Furgason. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Becky of Chickasha, his son Grant Charles Gordon of Bethany, OK and his daughter Bailey Anne Gordon of Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Kailey Dawn, Rylee Gene and Emma Grace Gordon, a sister, Denise Gordon Kuehn of Duncan, OK, mother-in-law, Lois Furgason of Chickasha, and brother- and sister-in-law, Mark and Debi Furgason of Arcadia, OK. He is survived by niece Lacey and husband Omari Gray, nephew Lance and wife Kelsey Kuehn, nephew Nathan Street, niece Lindsay and husband Billy Martin, and eight great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind beloved aunts and uncles and many cherished friends.
