Perry Ramsey

Perry Paul Ramsey was born October 24, 1939 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, to his parents Jack and Pauline Ramsey. He passed away on October 23, 2019.

Perry grew up in Blanchard, Oklahoma, and moved to Chickasha where he lived until his death. He graduated from Chickasha High School and Central State College (UCO). He married Virginia Parnell on August 6, 1961, and they shared 58 years together.

Perry served in the Air National Guard from 1961 until 1965. He began his career in the automotive industry with Ford Motor Company in Oklahoma City and Detroit, Michigan. The family returned to Chickasha so that, "my children could have roots in a small town." He partnered in the farming and ranching business with his "best friend," his father-in-law, Dorsey Parnell.  Their partnership continued for many years.

Perry worked briefly in the banking business, but joined Maremont Corporation before the plant opened in Chickasha and retired after 24 years, serving as Vice President of Operations and Plant Manager.

Perry's love for his community led to his involvement in many activities and organizations. He was President of the Rotary Club, Chickasha Chamber of Commerce, the Grady County Mineral Owners Association, and the USAO Foundation. He served on the boards of the Grady County Historical Society, the Red Cross, CASA, the Salvation Army, and the Boy Scouts. For many years, he was active in the Grady County Cattlemen's Association and a Marshall for the local Festival of Light.  After officially retiring, he was honored to be named a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Foundation. He later served as the Small Business Development Consultant for the Canadian Valley Technology Center.  He faithfully served the First Christian Church as a Deacon, Treasurer, and Elder Emeritus.

Perry is survived by his wife Virginia, sons Stephen and wife Donna of Coppell, Texas, Jack and wife Deana of Lone Tree, Colorado, and Dorsey and wife Gianna of Tuttle, Oklahoma.  His grandchildren are Preston and wife Emily, Avery, Parker, and Asher, and one great grandchild, Jacob Parnell (JP) Ramsey. Also, he is survived by his sister Jackie Harmon of Houston, Texas, and his brother Dan and wife Marilyn Ramsey of Chickasha, and sister-in-law Melanie and Kernon Machado, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Pauline, and his grandson, Trevor Parnell Ramsey.
