Pauline Hinton Miser, beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the age of 98. She was born March 4, 1919 near Hooker, Oklahoma to John and Anna Mae Cartmell.
The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1927. Pauline graduated from Capitol Hill High School, where she excelled in sports, winning many blue ribbons in swimming and diving. She won the Pulitzer Award in both singles and doubles in tennis.
She married her sweetheart, Robert E. Hinton on June 5, 1937. He preceded her in death in August 1983. They were blessed with 2 children, Fran Ann Gardner and Robert L. Hinton, both of Chickasha, OK.
Pauline married Vernon C. Miser on July 1, 1985. He preceded her in death in November 1996.
Pauline was a member of Trinity Baptist Church for most of her life. She joined First Christian Church after her marriage to Vernon. She loved the Lord and was happy serving as nursery helper, teacher, choir member and was a member of the 20th Century Sunday School Class.
She worked at the Book Exchange, Safeway Grocery, Singer Sewing Center and TG&Y, where she retired from, at the age of 62 so that her and Bob could travel. They spent summers in Colorado and winters in South Texas.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary and the D.A.V. Auxillary. She was a volunteer at Grady Memorial Hospital for several years. She loved people, traveling, playing cards with her friends, reading, showering everyone with gifts, chocolate, her family and Jesus.
Pauline leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Fran Gardner and husband, Kent; son, Bob Hinton and wife, Betty;
Grandchildren: Gary Hinton, Susan Parr and husband, Lance; LeeAnn McCree and husband, Clay; and Linda Prater; 6 great-grandchildren: Jeremy Parr and wife, Julie; Kassie Hair and husband, Kyle; Mandie Mosley and husband, Andrew; Drew Parr and wife, Emily; Kristi Pope and husband, Tyler; and Staci Hinton;
5 great-great grandchildren: Season Briscoe, Jacob Briscoe, Aubrey Hair, Hudson Mosley and Nora Pope;
As well as many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Lex Cartmell, Phil Cartmell and William Cartmell; 2 sisters: Velma Rendel and Maxine Bumm; granddaughter, Sharon Curtis and great grandson, Bobby Hinton.
Pauline spent the last years of her life living at Glenhaven Assisted Living where she had many friends that she considered family. The family would like to thank them as well as Lifeline Hospice for the love and care given to our precious mom and grandmother.
She blessed our family with wisdom, patience and unconditional love until her final days. She will be forever missed.
