Patricia Ilene (Lawson) Fitzpatrick was born on August 17, 1943, in Apache, Oklahoma to Strawn and Ollie Lawson. She left this life for her heavenly home December 18, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Patricia's parents were sharecroppers while she was growing up, so they moved around a lot. Her happiest times were when they lived in Oney, where she graduated from high school. After graduation she briefly attended OCU now known as USAO. While attending college, a friend introduced her to Eldon Fitzpatrick, who she thought was a little forward. He soon won her over and they were married, July 5, 1962, and to this union Eldon and Pat lovingly raised five children. They began married life in Chickasha and farmed a piece of land on the west side of town that they called "The 42 Acres". Every evening after work Eldon would pick up Pat and the kids and head to the farm. While Eldon tended the farm Pat would play games with the children, she taught them hopscotch, tag and kick-the-can until Eldon would holler "Pat you're supposed to be watching the gate!". She loved teaching her kids the games she grew up playing with her treasured sister Phyllis and seven ornery brothers Glen, Bobby, Hank, Jimmy, Ricky, Randy, and Robin.
Pat loved their little house on the north side of town. She loved her neighbors and all the kids who would come over to play. It was there that a neighbor, Barbara Kemp would knock on her door and invite her to church. That was the beginning of a special friendship that would last a lifetime. Barbara and Pat were the modern-day Lucy and Ethel. Their shenanigans often got them into hot water with their husbands, the worst was when they borrowed the Pastors lawnmower and caught it on fire. That invitation to church led Pat and her family to the Church of God now known as New Song Church of God. You could find Pat helping fry up chicken dinners with "The Willing Workers", teaching Sunday school, or helping the ladies of the church.
In 1974 Pat and Eldon bought a farm in Ninnekah and moved their family out there. They raised cattle while he worked for the Stidham's, and she worked at Dairy Queen as assistant manager. Pats greatest joy was her 13 grandchildren. Each one of them will tell you that they were her favorite because, that's how she made them feel. She loved cooking their favorite foods, reading them books, going exploring and sharing stories from her childhood. Later in life Pat became an avid bird watcher, you could often find her with binoculars hanging from her neck. She spent her spare time loving on her family, watering her flowers, and feeding the birds. She is a treasured mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Eldon Fitzpatrick; her parents, Strawn and Ollie Lawson; her brothers, Glen Lawson, Robin Lawson and infant Lawson; her granddaughter, Ciscilli McCurley; bestfriend, Barbara Kemp.
She is Survived by her children, Ballard Fitzpatrick and wife Karen, Teresa Fitzpatrick, Sandi McCurley and husband Michael, Joseph Fitzpatrick and Sarah Fitzpatrick; her siblings, Phyllis Morton, Bobby Lawson, Jimmy Lawson, Hank Lawson, Ricky Lawson and Randy Lawson; sister-in-law and dear friend Carolyn Fitzpatrick; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and family.
