Norma Jean Grisham passed away peacefully on November 12, 2018 in Chickasha, OK. Jean was born April 3, 1931 to Roy and Mary Houk in Chickasha. She was a graduate of Chickasha High School and attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts. She married Claris Grisham in 1949 and they truly lived a full life in business, travels, and family. Their children are Gary and Dorothy Grisham of Chickasha, OK, Debby and Cecil Brewer of Duncan, OK, Dena and Bill Keates of Oklahoma City, OK, and Beth and Tracy Cranton of Chickasha, OK.
In their early married life, Jean and Claris lived in the country near Amber, OK where she was involved in teaching children's mission groups and Vacation Bible School and was also a member of the Home Demonstration Club. In 1960, they moved close to Chickasha and began a new business venture. Jean worked much of her married life as the secretary for Grisham Construction Company.
Jean and Claris loved to travel -- whether flying their plane to Alaska, camping out, or driving the family into Mexico – each trip was an adventure. She had many dear friends who often took advantage of getting together to play bridge, take camping trips, and organize Bible studies.
Jean was an active member of First Baptist Church of Chickasha, always aware of opportunities to help others. From bringing others into her home, to volunteering for Hospice, to cooking for missions, she made a difference in so many lives. She heavily invested her life in her children, making their home a safe place where there was much laughter and where many memories were born. She was especially skilled as a seamstress, a cook, and dearly loved hosting her family for holidays and get togethers. Jean was also an avid sports fan cheering her teams in baseball, football, and basketball.
Jean was preceded in death by her father, mother, three sisters, Marie Brooks, Bert Wimberly, and Fern Haran, and granddaughter, Michelle Fox. She is survived by her husband, her four children, ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, brother-in law and sister-in-law, Jack and Linda Grisham, and many nieces and nephews.
