Nell "Miss Nellie" Campbell

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery of Tuttle, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Tuttle, OK.

Nell "Miss Nellie" Campbell left this world to be with the Lord and her beloved husband on August 13, 2020.  Nellie was born and raised in a small western Iowa farm town, one of six sisters, on June 4, 1932.

She grew up poor which shaped her entire life, often telling stories about her childhood that included using rocks, warmed on the stove, to keep their feet warm at night and shenanigans with the outhouse.

She graduated from Onawa High School before heading to Denver to attend nursing school.  There she met Roy, she was the brides maid while Roy was the best man.  They eventually married in 1958 and headed to California with $100 between them to start building their lives together.

Nellie began a 40 year career as an emergency room RN, taking a brief break when David, James and Joseph were born.  In 1969, Roy transferred to Tulsa, then to Tuttle in 1971.  She returned to work at Grady County Hospital where dinner time conversations were interesting to say the least.  Nellie worked there until she retired in 1996.

Retirement activities included her love of family, football, and bingo.

Nellie was preceded in death by her husband Roy; sons Abraham and Joseph; grandson Chris; an infant sister; father William, mother Jesse, stepfather Ted; sisters: Phyllis, Margaret and Dyanne; brothers-in law: Jules, Chester and Dale; niece Julie and nephew Shawn.

She is survived by son David and wife, Lori;

3 grandchildren: Miranda, Michael and Allyson;

and 7 great grandchildren, two of which she never met because of the pandemic,

a sister Wilma; a brother-in-law, Harry and 12 nieces and nephews.

After a lifetime of caring for others, she became the patient as her mind and body deteriorated.  The family would like to thank all of her caregivers and all of those in Tuttle who were constantly asking about Miss Nellie.

It's ok mom, you did well, your job here is done, go be with Dad, Jimmy and Joey, we'll be OK. Until we meet again.
