Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Tuttle First Assembly of God Church, Tuttle, OK. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
Myrl Eugene Bird, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 90. He was born May 1, 1931, in Hennessey, OK to Sebre and Viola (Morris) Bird.
Myrl was born premature at 7 months and weighed 3lbs. 2oz. His bed was a shoebox and was kept warm with a light bulb and fed by a medicine dropper. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Ernest G. Small that hit a mine and blew the bow of the ship off. They sailed his ship backward to Japan making a false bow to return to U.S. port in New Jersey. He was a welder for American Body and trailer, he worked at Tinker AFB as a civilian employee where he welded the biplane statue on base in the middle of the flag memorial, Myrl retired from Tinker AFB after many faithful years of service to his country in 1987.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sebre and Viola Bird; son, Robert Myrl Bird; 1 st wife, Avenelle Edwards Bird; and second wife, Margie Henson Bird.
Myrl is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Bird) Hart and husband, Scott of Wichita Falls, TX; children of Robert Myrl Bird: Ericka Lynn Porche of Louisiana, Aaron Joel Bird and wife, Mindy of Chickasha, OK, Jonathan Mark Bird, and wife, Julie of Locust Grove, OK, Rebecca Michelle Wasser of Pocasset, OK; children, Rick and wife, Mary Henson of Tuttle, OK, Donita and husband, Jim Carter of Bucyrus, Missouri, Rita and husband, Ron Jones of Edmond, OK; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
