Myra Lou Campbell, 75, of Chickasha, Oklahoma was born March 30, 1943 in Tuba City, Arizona to Ward and Louise (Langford) Kindred and passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Chickasha.

With her parents, she resided in White River, Arizona; Dulce, New Mexico, Drake and Greeley, Colorado.  They moved to Lusk, Wyoming in 1951, where both her parents were school teachers for the next 10 years.  Myra was active as a cheerleader, was in FHA, FFA, Sweetheart Queen, NCHS Football Queen, Honored Queen of Job's Daughters, and graduated from Niobrara County High School in Lusk as the Salutatorian in 1961.  She received a scholarship to the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California and spent one year there, and then transferred to Pasadena City College in Pasadena, CA where she graduated as a Registered Nurse in August 1964 and went to work at Huntington Memorial Hospital of Pasadena, CA.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was born again in October 1963 at the Assembly of God Church in Altadena, CA.  There she met Kenneth Troy Campbell in November, 1963.  They married on January 17, 1965 at the Chapel of Roses in Pasadena, CA and resided in Glendale, CA.  In March 1966, they moved back to his hometown in Lawton, OK.  She practiced her nursing at hospitals in Lawton, Frederick and Waurika, OK (the places where they resided from 1966 until 1972).  It was also during that time they were blessed with two daughters, Cynthia Lynn and Katharine Sue.

The family moved to Chickasha in April 1972 and has resided here since then.  Myra continued her nursing in the operating room at Grady Memorial Hospital, Chickasha until 1976, then as an Orthopedic Nurse at Southern Plains Medical Center, Chickasha until June 1979.  It was then that she went back to school, attending the University of Oklahoma, Health Sciences Center and graduated in August 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree as a Physician Assistant.  She worked in the Surgery Department at Southern Plains Medical Center from August 1981 until May 1993 in Chickasha.  She also gave numerous talks on breast cancer awareness to the public.

In 1993, she went to work in the medical clinic at the Lexington Prison for 9 years, then in Psychiatry in OKC; in Family Practice in Duncan; at 2 Quick Care Clinics in OKC; then at the Oklahoma County Jail in OKC until her retirement in November 2006.

In the 1980's, she was active in the Oklahoma Academy of Physician Assistants, was their publicity chairman for 7 years, Secretary for 6 years and Vice President for one year.  She served as the Oklahoma delegate to the National Convention one year.  She also wrote and had published the first public education brochure of the OAPA.  She enjoyed attending the yearly OAPA conventions to keep up her CME hours and to remain in touch with some of her colleagues from all over the state, even after her retirement.

Other activities included:  Site Director for the Oklahoma Kids, Inc from 1986 to 1990; Advisory Board Member for the Single-Parent/Homemaker program at the Canadian Valley Vo-Tech School (1991-1992); Advisory Board Member for Quality Life Styles (1992-1993); and she had small parts in the production of "Scrooge" (1989) and also a part in the play "Brighten Beach Memoirs" (1990) at USAO.

Her hobbies and passions were photography, sewing, and reading, playing on the computer, fishing, collecting "Charming Tails" and Elvis Presley memorabilia.  She also loved returning to Lusk, Wyoming every 5 years for her High School Reunions.  The greatest pleasure she had was spending time with her family.

She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Her husband of 52 years, Kenneth Campbell in December 2016; also her parents Ward and Louise Kindred, her 4 grandparents, 2 uncles, 2 aunts and 3 cousins preceded her in death.

Survivors include:
2 daughters: Cynthia Lynn Turner and her husband, Dennis, of Amber, OK;
and Katharine Sue Miller of Chickasha, OK;

3 grandchildren:  Tosha Powell and her husband, Perry, of Moore, OK;
Matthew Turner of Amber, OK; and Jimmy Don Miller, Jr of Chickasha, OK;

3 great grandchildren: Ella, Cora and Carlee Powell of Moore, OK;

Also surviving is 1 sister, Ruth Jahner of Rancho Palos Verde, CA;
1 brother, Matthew Kindred and his wife, Becky, of West Jordan, UT;

And several nephews, nieces and cousins.
