Mildred Janz was born February 1, 1931 in Cowden, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Ralph Finis and Juanita (Simpson) Jones.
She was raised on the family farm in Cowden during the dust bowl and Great Depression and graduated from Cowden High School. She married Lewie Janz May 14, 1957 in Cordell, Oklahoma. Once married they moved first to Massachusetts, and then to Wichita, Kansas. While in Wichita, Mildred gave birth to her two children, first Retta and then Curtis. They moved from Wichita to Oklahoma City and then Tuttle, where they lived for over 40 years.
Mildred worked as both the secretary and a teachers' aide at Tuttle Middle School over 20 years. She cared for the school kids as her own and had wonderful coworkers whose friendship she greatly treasured
Mildred was the true matriarch of her family and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren fiercely. She embodied the true meaning of a homemaker and took great pride in caring for her home and family.
Mildred was a member at the First United Methodist Church in Tuttle, Oklahoma. She loved her church family and truly enjoyed spending time with them.
Surrounded by loved ones, she died peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2016 in Oklahoma City at the age of 85.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewie and an infant son.
Survivors include: Her daughter, Retta Fulton and her husband, Gary, of Tuttle; her son, Curtis Janz and his wife, Kathryn, of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Sarah Springs and her, husband, Geoff, of Moore, OK; Allison Anderson and husband, Eddie, of Oklahoma, City, Delaney Janz of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; one great grandchild Emmilyn Springs of Moore
She is also survived by her brother, Leroy Jones and his wife, Sandra, of Mountain View, Oklahoma
