Mildred Faye (Rutledge) Hammons was born May 11, 1932 in Alex, Oklahoma to Alfred Lee and Anna Bell (Mitchell) Rutledge. She married Merl Hammons on June 17, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK. Merl was in the U.S. Army so they spent the next 21 years stationed in numerous places here and abroad. They then came back home to reside in Alex. Merl passed away in 1999.
Mildred delivered mail north of Alex for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mildred loved crafting, camping, watching crime shows and listening to her books. She loved going with friends and family to shop for yard ornaments and then trying to find a place to fit them into her yard. Her most precious moments were spending time with her friends and family.
She departed this life on November 14, 2016 at her home in Alex at the age of 84. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Merl; parents, Alfred and Anna Bell Rutledge; stepmother, Mildred Irene Rutledge; sister, Audene Gurnsey; and brothers: Sam Rutledge, Tom Rutledge and David Rutledge.
Mildred is survived by her son, Richard Hammons and wife, Claudia;
Daughter, Anna Miller and husband, Ken;
Grandchildren: Kenneth and Courtney Hammons; Jason and Jessica Hammons; James and Susie Davis; and Shane and Joyce Davis;
Great Grandchildren: Alexis Ardrey, Ashlie Davis, Brandon Davis, Colton Davis, Dalton Craig, Jayson Davis, Kamri Craig, Jaiden Hamons, Kedric Harwell, Lanie Davis, Tariku Hammons, Taryn Noll and Teddy Hammons;
A sister, Ann Reed and
A brother, Steven Rutledge
