Mickey O. Garrison,
of Chickasha, Oklahoma passed away at his home in Chickasha on Thursday, November, 23, 2017. He was born May 15, 1942 in Okeene, Oklahoma to Sherman and Edwardene (Pfaff) Garrison.
Mickey graduated from Wayne High School as Valedictorian and played baseball. He attended SW Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK on a baseball scholarship and received a master's in education.
He taught math and science at Clinton, OK, and McLish school system and Cleo Springs OK, along with teaching at Latta, and Apache where he coached baseball. He was principal at Geary and superintendent at Navajo and Sharon Mutual. He became the Athletic Director at Chickasha and taught 7th grade math. He retired in 2004.
On May 30, 1992, he married Helen Sweeney at the family lake home on Lake Texhoma. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Every weekend, you would find them tied to the railroad bridge fishing for striper. What he enjoyed most was following Emily in her high school and collegiate softball, traveling all over to watch Cody in his high school and collegiate golf, going to watch Rylan in his band concerts and even the first home football game to see him march or go see Lyla cheer at Sunshine Time.
He was a regional director of AAU Baseball with his best friend, Terril McBride. They ran tournaments in Chickasha, Texas, Arkansas and Florida.
In his retirement years he enjoyed going to the Thunder games and casino.
He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Edwardene Garrison; grandson, Bryson Burrows; sister, Gloria Sparlin; brother, Dom Garrison; sister-in-law, Cindy Garrison; brother-in-law, William Morris.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Helen Garrison, of Chickasha, OK;
Daughters: Kelley Ditmore and husband, Johnny, of Azle, TX;
Rhonda Burrows and husband, Kelly, of Chickasha, OK;
Sons: Mike Garrison and wife, Christi, of Amarillo, TX;
John Sweeney of Edmond, OK;
Grandchildren: Emily and Jesse Ditmore, of Edmond, OK; Cody and Rylan Burrows of Chickasha, OK; Lyla Sweeney of Edmond , OK; Dustin Navarrete and wife, Beth, of Amarillo, TX; Brandon Kalka of Austin, TX;
Great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Isaiah and Avery of Amarillo, TX;
Sisters: Elizabeth Craig of Ninnekah, OK;
Cindy Ritichison and husband, Jerry, of Eakley, OK;
Brothers-in-law: Tom Sparlin of Purcell, OK;
and Bob Morris and wife, Sharon of Enid, OK;
And a host of nieces and nephews.
