Mavis Rae Smith passed from this life on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 86. She was born on November 26, 1938 in Chickasha, OK to Wendell and Mildred (Lay) Mayhugh.

Graveside service for Mavis Smith will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mavis graduated from Chickasha High School. She married Leon Smith who was the love of her life. She enjoyed reading and doing needlepoint as well as loved doing puzzles. Mavis even framed her favorite puzzles. She was a wonderful artist. Mavis loved animals of all kinds.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Smith; her parents, Wendell Mayhugh and Mildred Lois (Lay) Mayhugh; her brother, Bobby Mayhugh.

Loved ones left to remember Mavis are her sister, Vivian Dillard; her brother Leroy Mayhugh and his wife Pam; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
