Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Sevier Funeral Home. Committal Service will be at Rush Springs Cemetery in Rush Springs. OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mary Jane Walters, 80, passed from this life surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 25, 2023 in Tuttle, OK. She was born May 16, 1942  to parents, Jack and Evelyn (Brock) Carleton.

Mary grew up moving around Oklahoma due to her dad being a preacher. She spent her junior high and most of high school in Stratford, OK until her senior year when her family moved to Tulsa. After graduating she attended ECU in Ada, Oklahoma for a few semesters. Mary met her first husband while in school there and to this union they had three beautiful children, Todd Large, Malinda (Large) Kinsey, and Richard Large. After several years she met Ed Walters in the spring of 1981, and they were married later that summer, on June 21, 1981.

In 1991 Mary's life began as "fun granny" when her first grandchild was born and from there, her grandchildren became her main focus in life. At her house, she had every toy you could think of.  She had season passes to White Water and Frontier City, and she took them to Chuck E. Cheese Pizza every time she had a chance. Mary would also take her grandchildren to Will Rogers's airport to watch the planes take off and land. When her grandchildren got older and started their extra-curricular activities, Mary attended as many events as possible. She was an avid OU Football fan and loved listening to and watching their games.  She knew all of the OU players and their stats. She enjoyed going to air shows as often as they would come around with her grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack, and Evelyn Carleton; husband, Ed Walters; brother, Don Carleton, sisters, Judy Johnson, and Sue Calkins; and niece, Angela Carleton.

Mary is survived by her children, Todd Large and wife, Donna of Ada, Oklahoma, Malinda Kinsey and husband, Jeff, of Amber, OK, Richard Large and wife, Jeanne of Rush Springs, OK;  Step-children: Rick Walters and wife Lisa of Rush Springs, Oklahoma and Starla Johns of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma;  grandchildren, Jessica Battles (Chris), Kelsey Walters(Pat), Jordan Large, Tyler Kinsey, Katelyn Yeiser, Colt Walters, Halee Kulbeth(Brady), Kaylee Crowson(Nathan), Camron Large, and Lexi Large. Great-grandchildren, Aaliyah and Titan Shearer, Harper Walters, Luna McDonald, Olive Crowson, and baby Crowson on the way; brother, John Richard Carleton, and wife, Nancy, and brother-in-law Donny Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
