Mary Renee Johnson

Services will be held at the Alex United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Alex Cemetery. Services will be under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mary Renee (Cofer) Johnson, 77, of Alex, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2022 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Renee was born on November 15, 1944 to Johnny and Wynona Cofer in Chickasha. She married Richard Johnson, of Alex, on July 31, 1964. Renee and Richard went on to have two sons, Shaun and Shelby.

Renee was a lifelong resident of the Alex community and member of the Alex United Methodist Church. After graduating from Alex High School in 1962, Renee attended Oklahoma College for Women for two years, majoring in business. She then began her career as a legal secretary for the law firm of Park, Nelson, and Caywood where she worked until Shelby was born. Renee returned to the work force at the First National Bank in Alex where she remained until her retirement. She and Richard enjoyed sports and took much pleasure in their children's and grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Renee was an avid reader, loved to travel and dine out, and spent many hours around the bridge table with cherished friends.

Renee was preceded in death by her husband Richard, and parents Johnny and Wynona. She is survived by her sons Shaun and Shelby and his wife Karen; grandchildren Shaunna Collins and husband Josh, Benjamin Pigg and wife Elizabeth Rachelle, Morgan Clark and husband Jace, Riley Johnson, Cofer Johnson, Mary Elisabeth Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Ryan Johnson; great-grandchildren Braxton, Addy, Linlee, Lincoln, and Ollie; sister Belinda Rogers; nephew Casey Rogers and wife Sarah and children Halli and Skylar; and sister in spirit Phyllis Goyne.
