Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Main Street Church of Christ in Alex, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Alex Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mary Belle (Starkey) Carr passed away on June 7, 2023 in her home. Mary was born July 16, 1933 in Alex, Oklahoma to Claud and Ruby (King) Starkey.

Mary was raised on a farm just outside of Alex, she attended the Alex Public School all 12 years. She enjoyed playing basketball and softball. It was her 8th grade year of school when she saw a young man, L.B. Carr, walking down the sidewalk at school and said "she was gonna marry that guy." They were together from then on, and on May 27, 1950 shortly after graduation Mary and L.B. were married, to this union they were blessed with 3 children, Rodney, Kendal, and Marla.

They raised their family on a farm north of Alex. They ran a dairy for 15 years, farmed and ranched. They also helped their parents with their farms. Mary also worked for several years as a reporter for the Chickasha Star newspaper. She was her kid's biggest fan, always there to support and cheer them on in all their activities. She enjoyed raising a garden, working in her flowerbeds and later in their marriage they loved to travel. Their priorities were always faith and family. They attended Main St. Church of Christ in Alex for over 73 years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Claud and Ruby (King) Starkey; husband, L.B. Carr, brother, Richard Starkey, sister, Mona Rae Story and husband Bob, brother-in-law, Jack Hoskins.

She is survived by her children, Rodney Carr and wife, Susan, Kendal Carr and wife, Sheryl, Marla Langford and husband, Coye. Her precious grandchildren, Davin and wife, Kim, Shawana Hatchett and husband, Jason, Amy Byrd and husband, James, Amanda Chambers and husband, Cary, Megan House and husband, Tommie, Tori Byard and husband, Daniel, Janae Langford, Jared Langford, and wife, Kylie, Tessa Hanson and husband, Josh. 18 great-grandkids, sister, Frances Hoskins, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a loving Church family.
