Marvin Henry Smith

Marvin Henry Smith, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at his home southwest of Chickasha, at the age of 86.  He was born December 22, 1931 in Halstead, Kansas to Henry and Eva (Becker) Smith.

Marvin received his education at Fredonia, Kansas.  After living in various places in Kansas, he met and married his lifelong companion, Winnie Smith on January 6, 1956.  They relocated to a dairy farm south of Chickasha where they reared three sons and two daughters.

He loved life, making many friends.  Children held a special place in his heart and he often expressed love for his family.  He was a member and attended the Plainview Mennonite Church.  He will long be remembered.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eva; a brother, Homer Smith and a sister, Viola Smith Koehn.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Winnie Smith, of Chickasha, OK;

Children:  Weldon Smith and his wife, Wilma, of Chickasha, OK;

Susan Smith of Walnut Hill, FL;

Michael Smith and his wife, LaVonna, of Cement, OK;

Timothy Smith and his wife, Loretta, of Grifton, NC;

Janolla Schmidt and her husband, Oren, of Potlatch, ID;

11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren;

A brother, John Smith and his wife, Norma;

4 sisters:  Betty Schmidt and her husband, Marvin;

Irene Smith;

Velma Koehn and her husband, Verlin;

Vivian Swarey and her husband, Chris.
