Lantana

Marlin Lee Boswell, 85, of Lantana, passed away on Tuesday, June 30th. He was surrounded by his loving wife, Virginia Boswell, and immediate family.

Marlin was born on December 22, 1940, to Ernest and Katie Boswell in Chickasha. An only child, he grew up surrounded by a close-knit extended family and spent much of his childhood with cousins who became lifelong companions.

He attended the Putnam City school system and later studied at Southeastern Oklahoma State University for two years. Marlin also proudly served his country as a member of the Oklahoma National Guard, completing six months of active duty and seven years in the reserves. His military service was a source of great pride, and he carried deep respect for the honor of serving his country.

In 1962, Marlin married the love of his life, Virginia Webster. Together they built a beautiful life and family. They welcomed their first daughter, Darenda, in 1963, followed by their son, Brandon, in 1964, and later their youngest daughter, Tara, in 1970.

Marlin began his professional career with Scott Rice Office Supply and Printing in 1967. In 1970, with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong determination, he ventured out on his own, buying and selling used desks, file cabinets, and office furniture. He and Virginia later opened Northwest Office Products on 10th Street in Oklahoma City. A second location on Portland Avenue, dedicated to used office furniture, soon followed, with several family members helping operate the business.

Later, in 1980, they purchased land and built a freestanding location at 925 North Meridian, consolidating both locations into one thriving business. Marlin employed 8–10 people and expanded into office products and printing. After 18 successful years in the office supply business, Marlin and Virginia sold the business while retaining the property as a rental investment.

In 1989, Marlin and Virginia began a second career that combined their love of the Southwest and fine jewelry, creating TARBRADA Jewelry, a business specializing in Native American jewelry. They purchased directly from reservations and local artists in New Mexico and Arizona. With a storefront at 50 Penn Place and pop-up locations across the United States, they enjoyed both building their business and traveling together. They retired from the jewelry business in 2017

As lifelong fans of the University of Oklahoma Sooners, Marlin and Virginia carried their Oklahoma pride wherever they went. In 2004 they moved to Argyle, Texas to be closer to their grandchildren, Colton Carson and Bailey Carson, and their youngest daughter, Tara.

Marlin will be remembered for his strong work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, patriotism, devotion to family, and generous heart. He loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and created a legacy of perseverance, integrity, and love.

Marlin is survived by his beloved wife, Virginia Boswell; his daughters, Darenda Boswell and Tara Boswell, and Tara’s husband, Vance Terrell; his son, Brandon Boswell, and Brandon’s husband, Efren Sanchez; his grandson, Colton Carson; and his granddaughter, Bailey Lagee, and her husband, Caleb Lagee.

A big OU Sooners fan he was always front and center on game days. Always quick with one liners that kept the family on their toes and a barrel laugh. Marlin was a man of faith, and lived the values of true Christianity. He ended up loving animals after they were always drawn to him, rescuing and helping animals, something he passed down to his three kids. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
