Mark Alan Martin

Mark Alan Martin, a third-generation insurance professional and life-long resident of Chickasha, Oklahoma, died Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the age of 69.

Mark was born on January 6, 1951 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Everett and Virginia Martin. He was the oldest of their four children. Mark attended St. Joseph's Academy in Chickasha until it closed. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1969. Mark attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and in September 1972, began a career with the family business, Pool-Martin Insurance Agency. Mark took over the business in 1991. Mark and the agency won numerous awards including Outstanding Agency, and Top Life and Top Annuity Sales Awards by the Silvey Company. Mark was proud to be a part of Main Street Chickasha and proud to be a part of a family business that served area residents for more than 100 years. Mark was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Chickasha.

Mark was married to Carol Lynn Martin (Miller) from 1976 to 2005. On February 15, 1980 Mark welcomed daughter Nora Lynn Martin and on February 19, 1983 he welcomed son Matt Aldrich Martin. Mark was a people person, loved his customers and enjoyed helping them with all of their insurance needs for the past 47 years. He enjoyed checking cattle and land with Bud Lowe. He loved the fellowship of his friends Steve Brandt, Jim Tibbets, Dan Knowles, Jim Pearcy and Tony Brandt.

Mark is survived by his children, Nora Martin of the home, and Matt and wife Laura; two granddaughters Grace Elizabeth Martin and Audrey Corinne Martin; Carol Martin, former wife and the mother of his children; brother Dale Martin and wife Donna; sister Holly Burns and husband Rick; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Neil Martin.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Fairlawn Cemetery. Father Mike Wheelahan will officiate.
