Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Alex High School, Alex, Oklahoma. Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 9 at Sevier Funeral Home.
Mark Kenton Byrne, 69, of Alex, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at his home. Mark was born June 3, 1951 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Billy and Mittie (Williamson) Byrne.
Mark married Janice Hough on November 7, 1970 in Lubbock, Texas and in 1972, they moved back to the Alex area to farm with his grandparents. He had served as the Public Works Director of Alex and had served as Alex Fire Chief for almost 20 years.
He was a faithful member and Elder at Main Street Church of Christ in Alex. Mark was also a member of the Prism Quartet and of the Crossfire Country Band. He was instrumental in obtaining grants for the Community Center of Alex.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Mittie Byrne.
Mark is survived by his wife, Janice Hough Byrne, of Alex, OK;
Children: Carma Rogers and her husband, Korry, of Norman, OK; Erin Byrne of Alex, OK; Isaac Byrne and his wife, Charissa, of Alex, OK; Brother, Joe Byrne of Alex, OK; and 8 grandchildren: Kaylee Warrior, Kyler Thornburg, Chase Byrne, Lauren Garcia, Riley Byrne, Madison Byrne, Emma Rogers and Evan Rogers.
Interment will be in Laflin Creek Cemetery northeast of Alex under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha, OK.
