Mario Sandoval Hernandez, Sr.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the New Life Christian Church, Chickasha, OK. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Mario Sandoval Hernandez, Sr. was born on April 22, 1946, in Corpus Christi, TX to Melchor, Sr., and Angelita Hernandez. He passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in Chickasha, OK at the age of 75.

Mario attended school in Dimmitt, TX, and began working as a farmworker in the Easter, TX farming community. This is where he met Frances Pena in 1963 and they married later that year. To this union, four children were born. The family later moved to Elk City, OK where Mario began work on a seismograph crew and worked many years before moving to Gardena, CA where he became a designer making custom wood tables made from manzanita tree roots. They eventually left California and relocated to Chickasha, OK where he became a welder for horse trailers and followed up by seismographing again. After that, he started welding in the oilfield and even had his own business, "Hernandez Welding." He continued to work as a welder/fabricator for many other companies until his retirement in May of 2008.

Mario is preceded in death by his parents, and son Mario Hernandez, Jr.

Mario is survived by sons, Jose Angel Hernandez and wife, Kim, Edward Hernandez; daughter, Angie Rippy, and husband, Trent; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 5 brothers and 6 sisters who all reside in Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
