Marie Burris Garrett, of Tuttle, OK, was born March 13, 1937 at 2 West Main Street, Tuttle, home of her grandfather, Finley Fryrear. She passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at her home in Tuttle at the age of 81.
Her brother Gilman Burris was also born at 2 West Main Street. Her parents were Lefes and Fannie Burris. Marie graduated from Tuttle High School in 1955. She immediately went to work as a bookkeeper at the Bank of Tuttle.
Marie married Robert Garrett from Minco, March 17, 1962 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They moved to California and lived there until 1967. They moved back to Tuttle and Marie returned to work at the Bank of Tuttle. In 1974, Robert and Marie started Four-Way Construction Company where she worked until retirement in 1991.
She was raised by her mother in the Baptist Church where she was saved and baptized. She attended the Assembly of God in her adult years. She served on the Fairview Cemetery Board and the Tuttle Housing Authority. Marie was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Jack Bobier; and nephew, Lyle Burris.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, of the home;
Sister, Dolores Bobier;
3 brothers: Gilman Burris and wife, Kay; Carroll Burris and wife Janet; and Gayland Burris and wife Dee, all of Tuttle;
Sister-in-law, Ruby Fay McDaniel of McClain, Virginia;
Many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
