Viewing for family and friends will be at Sevier funeral home on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23, 2022, followed by cremation. The family will hold a graveside memorial and burial of cremated remains later, at Fairlawn cemetery due to family health issues and the unbearable heat.
Louise Marie (Dorman) Rains was born near Plainview, Texas in Hale County on August 8, 1926. The second child of Luster Allen and Gladys (Merideth) Dorman. She peacefully passed away at home on July 19, 2022, after a long battle with dementia.
She grew up between Rush Springs, OK, and Cox City, OK. Attended Pea Ridge School either walking or riding a horse to school.
Friends introduced her to a handsome young man, Kinzel Edd Rains, who was known as Totsie. They were married on February 3, 1945, until his passing on February 2 , 1994, just 1 day before their 49 th wedding anniversary.
She worked at the Ben Franklin store in Chickasha, OK for over 30 years and at the Jeep-Army store for several years. When floods hit in the 1980s, she went to work at Appliance Service Center/Maytag Store which she and Totsie owned until his death in 1994, deciding to close business and retire.
Totsie surrendered to preaching in 1958 and she became a preacher's wife first at New Hope Baptist Church in Anadarko, OK, and then as founding pastor and wife to Grace Baptist Church in Chickasha, OK for 33 years until his death. She later attended Faith Baptist Church, never losing her love of God and her family.
Louise was actively involved in Grady County singing conventions, held for many years at Grace Baptist Church Chickasha, OK and Grady County Fairgrounds, she was the lead singer of the Grace Baptist Quartet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luster Allen, and Gladys (Merideth) Dorman; husband, Totsie Rains; sisters, Vera Lee, and Virginia; infant brother, L.A. Jr.; and great-grandson, Christian Thomas.
Louise is survived by, her daughter, Barbara Blackburn, Chickasha, OK; granddaughter, Darla Ellington and husband, Richard of Bridge Creek, OK; grandson, James Shanon McClain and wife, Orvie, Chickasha, OK; brother, Roy Dorman and wife Lori of Rush Springs, OK; step-grandsons, Scott and James Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Madison, Joey, Shane, Kyle, Zach, Meagan and Merissa; great-great-grandchildren, Lila, Irelynn, Londynn, Jake, Krystin, Reign, Maddie, Gwen, Jordan, Emersyn, Marilyn, and Lincoln; great-great-great-grandsons, Easton and Liam; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors who were like family.
