Celebrating the life of Lavoy Green

January 27, 1935 - June 3, 2026

Lavoy Green, master machinist, skilled woodworker, and professional finder-of-loopholes, officially clocked out of his earthly shift on June 3, 2026, in Palestine, TX, at the ripe old age of 91. Born in Sasakwa, OK on January 27, 1935, Lavoy spent most of his life in Tuttle, OK, perfecting the arts of precision, patience, and making people laugh.

A proud veteran, Lavoy served in the U.S. Army where he undoubtedly kept his platoon entertained. He later turned his sharp eye and steady hands to a career as a machinist and a lifelong passion for woodworking. If it was made of wood, he could build it, if it was broken, he could fix it; and if it was a quiet room, he could fill it with a joke.

Lavoy has finally gone to reunite with his favorite supervisor, his beloved wife, Kathern Green, to whom he was married for 54 wonderful years. We suspect Kathy is currently correcting his posture and asking him what took him so long.

He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and sawdust, inherited by his two daughters and their husbands, Julie and Wayne Bell, and Jill and William Niffer Davis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, who promise to pass down his sense of humor: Katie Beth Shouse, Danielle Guin, Seth Shouse, Jon Bell, Jarod Bell, and Jackson Bell. His legendary status will live on through his great-grandchildren: Izzy Lynch, Mason Guin, Maverick Bell, Ezra Bell, and Emery Wilson. He is also survived by baby Guin expected in January 2027.

Lavoy’s memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Tuttle Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. The family has requested in honor of Lavoy’s memory--please do not wear black to the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lavoy Green’s name to Tuttle Methodist Church.
