Lavetta Ogle

July 25, 1930 — February 9, 2021

Oklahoma City

Lavetta Yolanda (Dryden) Ogle passed away in her sleep into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 9, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born on July 25, 1930 in Chickasha, OK to William Howard and Garnett Emily (Rider) Dryden. She grew up on the family homestead near Rush Springs and attended Little Rush School. Lavetta met her future husband Uville Ogle at his 21 st birthday party. It was a welcome home celebration for Uville's return from his service after WWII, and they both declared it love at first sight. They were married in the Dryden home on August 28, 1949.

Lavetta graduated from Central State University in 1951 with a teaching degree, and taught primarily 2 nd and 3 rd grades in the Oklahoma City Public Schools.  In 1986, Uville and Lavetta moved back to Chickasha to continue with the family cattle business. They joined First Baptist Chickasha and they enjoyed various cattle association trips, garage sales, and square dancing. Uville passed away in a farming accident in 2000, and soon after Lavetta moved back to Oklahoma City to be closer to family. Never able to quite give up teaching, she mentored students through Northwest Baptist Church's tutoring ministry.  She also loved her ladies Sunday school class where she was treasurer.

Lavetta was a spunky, opinionated woman. She was never short on advice, and had a bluntness that made you stop and think. Her random and obscure sayings would make you burst with laughter. She would collect coupons and newspaper clippings that she considered important to share with her loved ones. Her family and friends brought her the most joy.

Lavetta was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Garnett Dryden, older brother William Dwayne Dryden, younger sister Barbara Fish, and husband Uville W. Ogle.

She is survived by her son Keith Ogle and daughter-in-law Dianne of Edmond; daughter Valerie Ferringer and son-in-law Hugh of Midwest City; grandchildren Casei Ogle, Brian Ogle and wife Whitney; Holly Ogle and fiancée Brendan Kane; Ian Ferringer and wife Whitney; and Mark Ferringer; great grandchildren Maverick and McClane Ogle, Everly and Aspen Ferringer; along with a daughter-in-law Leslie Ogle, nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
