Laverne Crow

September 21, 1922 — January 6, 2018

Mrs. Marice Laverne Crow was born September, 21, 1922, in Rush Springs, Oklahoma, the daughter of Tom Bennett and Mary "Dime" (Merrett) Bennett.  She completed her earthly journey on January 6, 2018 in Chickasha. She had made her home in Grady County for most of her 95 years.

She attended Little Rush and Keechi Schools where she was a fierce competitor in sports.  She enjoyed camping and fishing--especially on the Washita River with extended family where "throw-lines" were set and checked at two-hour intervals during the night. She also had a reputation for selecting a good watermelon—a skill she learned while helping her family with the farming as a young girl.

She was united in marriage with William "Calvin" Crow on April 30, 1941, in Chickasha. Mrs. Crow loved to work outdoors and spent several years in their trucking business—driving a "bob-tail" hay truck with a "headache rack", while her husband drove a semi-trailer. They made many trips to Kansas and Nebraska to find hay to take to the dairies around Fort Worth, Texas.  She never needed "Women's Lib".

Mrs. Crow was a member of Assembly of God Churches most of her adult life and faithfully served wherever needed.
