Visitation will be at Sevier Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
A loving spouse of Shirley Veley and a cherished father to Traca Haslam and Melissa Bolding, Larry touched countless lives with his sense of humor and his altruistic nature. He found joy in travelling and spending time with his grandchildren. He leaves a legacy of wisdom, character and "dad quotes".
Larry graduated from High School in 1964. He received an undergraduate degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and a masters from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. Larry joined the U.S. Army in 1966, and served honorably until 1968.
Larry dedicated his life to education, working as an industrial arts teacher, coach and school administrator through Chickasha Public Schools and retired from Canadian Valley Technology Center in 2007.
Larry loved to travel. He enjoyed visiting state and national parks, but his happy place was behind the wheel of his pontoon boat filled with his family speeding through the lake as he found the perfect spot to ski, tube or fish. He was an outdoor enthusiast. Larry was an amateur pilot and completely restored a 1946 aeronca chief airplane. He was a connoisseur of finding local treasures and hole in the wall restaurants.
Preceding Larry in death are his parents Russell and Maxine Veley; sister Carol Richardson; and daughter Patricia Ann Veley.
Remaining to cherish Larry's memory are his wife, Shirley Veley; children, Traca (Veley) Haslam and her husband Craig Haslam, Melissa (Veley) Bolding and her husband Bryan; stepchildren, Michael Cusato and Chris Cusato; grandchildren, Clara Haslam, Luke Haslam, Eve Haslam, Ben Corman, Alex Corman, Allyson (Cusato) Fowler and her husband Peyton, Michael Cusato II, Nicholas Cusato; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Fowler and Bennet Fowler; and sister, Myrna Millege.
