Karl Wayne Lehew

Karl Wayne Lehew, of Chickasha, OK, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the age of 59.  He was born October 24, 1960 in Chickasha to Wayne and Sue (Nelson) Lehew.

Karl graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1979. He began his working career with Hart Trailers and was with them for 10 years. He later was employed with the Chickasha Fire Department for over 20 years until retiring in 2012.  After retiring from the fire department he owned and operated Energy Machinist LEDLE Co.

He married Irene Owens on December 31, 2007.

Karl lived and loved more in his life than most people can imagine.  He could sing, play the guitar, ride a bull, shoot a buck, catch a fish, dunk the ball, cover shortstop, build a trailer, care for livestock, put out a fire, rescue someone in need, teach and mentor firefighters, make an oilfield part and then try to figure out what he was going to do the next day.

Karl had a way of captivating people with his Southern drawl and honest delivery of his messages – no mistaking who came in the room, who was on the phone or on the emergency scanner.  Karl freely gave love and respect, wanting the same in return.  He could separate business from friendship and was a man of his word.

His love for his family, friends, CFD brothers, and animals was steadfast through every good time and hard time.  Surely his reward in Heaven will be as great as our loss.

He is preceded in death by his mother Sue Lehew.

Karl is survived by his wife, Irene Lehew; his son, Kristopher Wayne Lehew; father, Wayne Lehew; sister, Mitzi and Rusty Sanders; and niece, Laci Sanders and nephew, Casey Sanders.

He is also survived by 2 stepsons: Derek Carpenter and Devin Carpenter; his mother-in-law, Hope Owens; sisters-in-law: Lillian and Gary Steelman; Elaine Merrifield, Joan and Dave Koos and brother-in-law, John and Cherris Owens.
