Judy McCombs

It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Judy McCombs, who earned her eternal rest January 9, 2025.

Judy was born on May 27, 1949, in Corpus Christi, TX. As a child, she and her family embarked on a years-long journey of world travel due to her father's job in the oil industry, laying the groundwork for her love of travel into adulthood.  Judy attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU), where she obtained her degree and met her future husband, Dan McCombs. Although divorced, the two remained good friends throughout her life. Judy was a devoted and loving mother to her two sons, John and Matt McCombs. She was their utmost supporter and took pride in their accomplishments.

Judy lived an active life and was a woman of immense talent. Her artistic skills were exceptional, resulting in paintings that decorated the walls of galleries across the United States, including the Oklahoma House of Representatives and The Governor's Mansion., Judy was frequently awarded 'Best of Show' at her art competitions. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge with her art students, often stating they were her biggest competitors at each show. In her younger years, Judy loved to stay active by hiking and playing tennis. She had a green thumb and could often be found outdoors tending to her plants.

Judy enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and spending time with her family. Despite living in different states, Judy and her sister, Jann, remained close with early morning phone calls, drinking coffee and discussing life. This time was a treasure to them both.

Judy is survived by her two sons, John and Matt, daughter-in-law Brittan, grandchildren, Griffin and Ellis, former husband, Dan, sister Jann and husband Dan Glidewell, and sister, Jenny Emmert. Judy had three nieces, Kaley, Emily and Anna, three nephews, Danny, Derrick, and Aaron, along with six great nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family.

Judy is preceded in death by her father, John Emmert, mother, Jayne Emmert, and brother, Bruce Emmert.

A private memorial service will be held in Corpus Christi, TX with immediate family members in attendance. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the '2025 Walk to End Alzheimer's' organized by the Alzheimer's Association.

Rest in peace Judy. You will forever be in our hearts and minds.
