Joyce Janelle Smith

Joyce died June 3, 2015 at Grady Memorial Hospital. Joyce was born to Agnes Underwood Workman and Oscar Workman on July 22, 1939 in the Union Hill community in Grady County. She was the fifth child of eleven children born to the Workman Family. She was born a farm and country girl and she left this earthly home and entered her eternal home as a country, farm girl. She loved her God, family, friends, and her church. Her heart was huge, and she will long be remembered for her sweet spirit and loving nature. Joyce graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1957. She and J.C. Smith were married on December 1, 1957 at the First Baptist Church of Ninnekah. To this union, two sons were born; Mark Allen Smith and Larry Randall (Randy) Smith. She worked for Chickasha Bank for several years and was Grady County Election Board Secretary for 20 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and lifelong member of Ninnekah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Agnes Workman, four brothers; Jerry, Bill, James, and Don, four brothers-in-law; Colonel Pennypacker, Bill Curtis, Jay Smith, and Tommy Smith and one sister-in-law, Dee. She is survived by J.C. Smith, husband of 57 years, two sons, Mark Allen Smith and wife Dana of Ninnekah, Larry Randall (Randy) Smith and wife Cheryl of Lawton, two grandsons Ty Smith and Josh Smith, and one granddaughter Kelsee Smith. Brothers: Phillip Workman of Ninnekah, Danny Workman of Elk City; sisters Barbara Curtis of Humble, TX, JoAnn Henderson of Dalhart, TX, Sue Bingham and Dianne Pennypacker both of Chickasha. Sisters-in-law Fern Workman, Desiree Workman, Orena Workman, Lawanna Workman, Charlotte Workman, Betty Porter, and Wanda Paddock. Brothers-in-law Joe Henderson, Clyde Bingham, and Alfred Paddock. Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and a large host of loving friends and neighbors.
