Funeral service for Joyce Belville will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. at Epworth United Methodist Church. Interment will be for the family only at Ft. Sill Cemetery in Elgin, OK under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Joyce was born on December 8, 1953 in Mount Ayr, Iowa to Harold Tom Golliday and Esther Golliday. She was welcomed into heaven on March 12, 2026 in Chickasha, OK at the age of 72.

Joyce grew up in Mount Ayr, where she attended school and was involved in Rainbow, band, and cheer. She attended Mount Ayr Presbyterian Church. Joyce graduated in 1972 from Mount Ayr High School. She worked as a life guard at the Mount Ayr pool, sweeping hair at the beauty shop, and serving food at the Dari Sweet and Dog and Suds. She married Hal Butler on July 4, 1973, and moved to Ft. Sill, OK where Hal was stationed in the army.

In 1976 Hal was stationed in Seoul, South Korea and Joyce went with him. She could not live on base at the time, so she had a roommate and got a job as a secretary on base and got to see Hal on the weekends. Their daughter, Andrea, was born in Korea on January 24, 1977.

After Korea, Hal was stationed back at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Their daughter Angie was born at Ft. Sill on June 5, 1982. In 1984, Hal was stationed in Menden Germany, and they lived there for two years where they traveled all over Europe. They went on memorable trips to the Black Forest, Paris, London, Spain, and the Netherlands. In 1986, Hal was stationed back at Ft. Sill. Joyce worked in civil service for the Legal Assistance Office at Ft. Sill and was also later named as Chief of the Income Tax Assistance Center. She took great pride in her job assisting soldiers with taxes and teaching soldiers that were assigned to work for her how to do taxes. Many of them requested year after year to be assigned back to the tax center so that they could work for Ms. Belville.

Joyce and Hal lived in Lawton, OK and delighted in watching their daughters grow and spending time outdoors and at the lake with family and friends until Hal’s passing in 1992. In 1993, Joyce married Ray Belville, who had also lost a spouse to cancer. They formed a blended family with Ray’s two boys and Joyce’s two girls and continued to live in Lawton where they enjoyed their children’s school activities and spending time together at the lake, the wildlife refuge, and enjoying friends and family.

Joyce and Ray moved to Chickasha in 2007, and she retired from civil service in 2009. After her retirement, she started a home-based tax business that she grew based on how much people loved and trusted her expertise. Joyce attended Epworth United Methodist Church and was very involved in Something Worthwhile, the Soup Kitchen, and Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered as a mediator in the community. Her favorite hobby was cake baking where she won many blue ribbons at the county and state fair for her unique cake recipes.

In the years after her retirement, Joyce was a superstar grandma. She showed up to all their basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball games. She cheered them on at track meets, cheer events, and swim meets. The kids could be found on any given weekend setting up snow cone stands in the driveway, feeding ducks at Shannon Springs Park, or playing on a slip and slide in the backyard. If they weren’t doing that, they were baking cakes with her in the kitchen. She adored them and made the most of every moment.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Hal Butler.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory include her husband, Otha Ray Belville of Chickasha, OK, daughters, Andrea Terrell and son-in-law Josh of Norman, OK, Angie Strawderman and son-in-law David of Slaughterville, OK; stepsons, Jesse Belville and Ray Belville; grandchildren, Halley, Hayden, Emma, Greyson, Rayden, and Skye; sister, Glenda Gross of Lawton, OK; brother, Kirk Golliday and sister-in-law Denise of Mount Ayr Iowa; niece, Natalie Ingram and nephew-in-law Drew, niece, Amber Golliday; and great nephew and great niece Trenton and Cadence of Waukee, Iowa.

Her bright light will continue to shine in the memories of those who loved her.
